Islam accepts all the Prophets and believes in the Divine origin of the great religions of the world. It is, therefore, with feelings of profound reverence and love for both Jesus and Muhammad for the religions which they preached that the author of this book has attempted a comparative study of Christianity and Islam. If at times she disagrees with Christians, it is not over the religion of Jesus Christ, but over the somewhat altered shape and features that it developed after the departure of Christ. In the words of Lord Headley, ” Islam and Christianity, as taught by Christ himself, are sister religions, only held apart by dogmas and technicalities which might very well be dispensed with.”

While living in Afghanistan, I have realized that Tawhid can not pernetrate into the soul of the human being, nor will it intensify and strengthen – the way it does in the fields of Jihad. This is the Tawhid, regarding which the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said ‘I was sent before the hour with the sword…’ Why? ‘So that Allah is worshipped Alone with no partners with Him.’

This booklet is part of Shaikh Muhammad ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen’s book “Sharh Hadeeth Jibra’eel” Translated by Shawana A. Aziz.

Shaykh Abdullah Azzam writes, ‘Indeed, Allah has scales with which He attaches value to things, and people have different scales with which they attach value to things. Allah has scales that He wants to manifest on Earth as a way of life, as a system of life – scales that were considered something imaginary that would pass through the minds of the people, and have now become a reality in the form of manners, words, life, and movement.

The Arabic word Islam literally means ‘surrender’ or ‘submission.’ Islam, as a faith, means total and sincere surrender to God so that one can live in peace and tranquility. Peace (Salam in Arabic, Shalom in Hebrew) is achieved through active obedience to the revealed commandments of God, for God is The Just, The Peace. The name Islam is universal in meaning. Islam is not named after a tribe of people or an individual, as Judaism is named after the tribe of Judah, Christianity after Christ and Buddhism after Buddha. Islam is not a name chosen by human beings; it was divinely communicated from God. Islam is a global faith, not of the East or the West. Islam is a complete way of life, implying total submission to God. One who surrenders his or her will to God, voluntarily, is called a Muslim. It was not Muhammad (SAW) but Adam (S.A) who first brought Islam to humanity. Then, each Prophet and Messenger came to exhort the people to a clear understanding of God’s commandments. They offered teachings relevant to that time, until God chose the final Prophet, Muhammad (SAW), to come with the Last Testament referred to as the Qur’an. Allah is an Arabic word, meaning ‘The One and Only True Deity’, the proper name of The One who created the heavens and the earth. Arabic-speaking Jews and Christians also call God by the name Allah. For a Muslim, Allah is the greatest and most inclusive of names for God, denoting The One who is adored in worship, The One who created all that exists.

The author refers to the Quranic verses and Ahadith by interpreting them in a very simple and comprehensible style, and also brings to light the true status of all the unlawful customs and rituals which are commonly practiced in the society and are detrimental to the faith of Tauhid. Tauhid (Oneness of Allah) is the basis of the Islamic religion.

The source of all evil is the deviation from the truth and its straight path. The goodness of all matters is the following of truth and adherence to its right way. Truth is the fixed state in which Allah has created every creature in a particular way and managed its affair in a certain manner. Allah is Perfect and exempt from any deficiency or error. This book aims to elucidate the pillars of Emaan (basis of belief, faith) and the characteristics of Kufr (disbelief) and its causes.

This Book is for everyone who is searching within himself for answers about many questions: Who am I? Is there a purpose for my existence? Who is the True God? What is the True Road for Salvation? Is It Islam? If I become a Muslim what does it mean to me, my family and the society at large?Today many realize that all of the materialistic and secular progress produced a spiritual vacuum that led to social, economical, political and psychological problems. That is why people who used to say: “let us live this life and enjoy it.” or “hey! We don’t want to know about God”, are in search again.

Islam Is Your Birthright: Each person is born in a religious environment that is not of his/her own choice. From the very beginning of human existence in this world, they are assigned the religion of their family or the ideology of the state. By the time individuals reach their teens they usually accept the beliefs of their parents or that of their particular society. However, when some people mature and are exposed to other beliefs and ideologies, they begin to question the validity of their own beliefs, and search for the truth.

The eminent scholar of Islam, Sheikh-ul-Islam Imam Ibn Taymiyyah, discusses the real & original faith of Islam according to the Qur’an & Sunnah. It deals with the perfect and undefiled Islamic Faith and Creed of the As-Salaf-As-Salih (Pious Predecessors) particularly in regards to Allah’s names and attributes, with solid arguments in brief words and terminologies. The book is highly appreciated by the scholars for its brevity as well as comprehensiveness; and for its contents produced in line with the Qur’an and Sunnah in an appealing and manifest manner.
